The 61-year-old broadcaster announced his departure Thursday. Revealed that she is quitting the hit cooking program to focus on other work projects.
In a statement shared on Twitter, she said ” when people are retired from a job it is common for people to say that they are doing this to spend more time with their family.
”Extraordinary I’m departing from the Great British Back-off so I can spend more time with my other work. As my waist will testify, Back off is one of the most used shows.”
He shows confirmed in a statement that he was looking for someone new to join co-presenter Noel Fielding and ”Back off” Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
Toksvig continued: ”Spending time with Prue, Paul and Noel have been one of the great pleasures of my life. These are the friendship I know will continue beyond the limits of television.”
The Danish-born comedian said the show was a ”wonderful” event, he added that in the past it has been proven that he can ”happily withstand the change of hosting personnel.”
”The reason for that, of course, Really because the real stars themselves are the bakers, I wish everyone the best”. Toksvig added. Toksvig, who has appeared on 51 episodes, is not the first presenter to step away from the UK show.
She joined the series in comic fielding as well as 2017 when the show made severed ties relationship with the BBC and signed a deal to be broadcast on Channel 4, the move signaled the original hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc to go one way.
Reacting to the news of the departure of Toksvig’s, Leith tweeted. ”I absolutely love working with Sandy, she has been a wonderful host and extremely fun and I am amazed at how hard works to create so many different projects.”
Leith added that the pair will be ”lifelong friends.”
Program Director Ian Katz said in a statement that Toksvig has been a ”huge chunk of talk song as the transition to back-off channel 4 has been such a success.” He added ”that the his unique voice will continue to have a significant presence channel of new shows in development that do not include any cake.’
