CORTLAND, N.Y. (WSYR-TV/WETM)- The State Health Department has confirmed the first two cases of COVID-19 in Cortland Country.
According to the Cartland Department of Health, the two cases are related to a child under the age of five and a person under the age of fifty.
Although both cases are generally considered low risk, state and county health departments are working to identify and contact anyone who may be in contact with certified locations.
All confirmed positive events will be isolated and those individuals identified as close contacts will be isolated and monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms.
There are currently 12 members of the community who are not symptomatic and are self-quarantining for the recommended 14 days, this group is not linked to the confirmed cases.
The Department of Health will not release further details about respecting the privacy of these residents.
Cortland County neighbors are advised to follow the social distance guidelines and stay home or work remotely.
