How to Get There

There are multiple ways to get there when planning a trip to Yosemite National Park. The park has four entrances: Highway 120 West, 140, 41, and 120 East/Tioga Road, which are all open during the summer months. Visitors can drive into the park, take a bus, or fly into one of the airports in the area. The closest major airports are Fresno Yosemite International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.

Two options are available for those who prefer to take the bus: Highway 99 and Highway 120. While Highway 99 is the quickest, it is also the most expensive, costing $40 and taking about 4 hours. On the other hand, Highway 120 takes up to 8 hours but only costs $10.

Planning Trip to Yosemite

Visitors can also make a reservation on the Yosemite website or call 877-444-6777 to get a campsite for under $30 a night. Reservations open up on the 15th of each month, and visitors can reserve a spot up to 5 months in advance.

Regardless of the transportation method, visitors should plan their trip ahead of time, especially during peak seasons, as spots can fill up quickly. Additionally, visitors should know the best time to visit Yosemite, which depends on what they’re looking for, and each season has its advantages.

Best Time to go

Yosemite National Park is a popular tourist destination, attracting millions of visitors yearly. The best time to visit Yosemite depends on what you want to do and what weather conditions you prefer. If you want to avoid crowds, the best time to visit Yosemite is in the spring (April to May) or fall (September to November). During these seasons, the weather is pleasant, and the park is less crowded.

However, if you want to fully experience the park’s activities, including the famous Tioga Road, which is only open in summer, the best time to visit is from May to September. Visitors should also know that parking can be an issue during peak season, so arriving early or taking the shuttle bus is recommended. Ultimately, the best time to visit Yosemite depends on your preferences and priorities.

Must-See Places

When planning trip to Yosemite, it’s important to know the must-see places to make the most of your visit. Here are some of the top must-see places in Yosemite, according to the provided web search results:

1. El Capitan

A massive rock formation that is a playground for rock climbers. It’s located on the other side of Yosemite Valley from Half Dome and is considered one of the most iconic landmarks in the park. Visitors can watch rock climbers inch their way up The Nose with a pair of binoculars from El Capitan Meadow.

2. Yosemite Falls

A must-see waterfall in the park and the continent’s highest. Visitors can take an easy stroll up to the base of the double-tiered falls from convenient shuttle stops. Early arrival is recommended to avoid traffic jams and parking issues.

3. Half Dome

A towering granite dome located in the eastern end of Yosemite Valley. It’s a popular hiking destination that offers stunning views of the park from its summit. However, a permit is required to climb Half Dome, and it’s recommended to start early in the day to avoid crowds and the mid-day heat.

4. Bridalveil Fall

A beautiful waterfall that is easily accessible from the road. It’s a popular spot for photography and a great place to stop and take in the scenery.

5. Glacier Point

A must-see viewpoint in Yosemite that offers sweeping panoramic views of the park’s iconic landmarks. It’s accessible by car and offers a range of hiking trails for visitors of all skill levels.

6. Yosemite Valley

The main destination for most visitors, it’s home to many of the park’s iconic landmarks, including El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Falls, and Yosemite Falls. Visitors can take the free shuttle buses to avoid traffic congestion and delays. It’s recommended to arrive before or after peak hours to avoid crowds.

When planning trip to Yosemite, it’s also important to consider accommodations and camping options. Yosemite’s lodges are notoriously challenging to book and often fill up a year in advance, so reserving a room well in advance is recommended.
