In a statement on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Mousavi, reacted to the current situation in Lebanon after Hariri resigned from President Michel Aoun.

”We hope the Lebanese nation and government would successfully get though this serious and sensitive juncture with rapport,” Mousavi said, according to the Foreign Ministry’s website.

He also stressed the need for stability in Lebanon, the friendly and brotherly country, ”The Islamic Republic of Iran Emphasizes the need for solidarity, unity and rapport among all Lebanese clans, parties and characters in order to maintain the country’s stability and security and to respond to the legitimate demands of the Lebanese people in a calm atmosphere.”

Hariri turned Aoun wool in his resignation on Tuesday and fulfilled an important demand of the country’s protest movement.

The ruling comes in the backdrop of a 13 days major protest demanding separation from the political elite across the country amid growing anger over poor public service and years of economic mismanagement.

”We have reached a deadlock and we need a shock in order to brave through the crisis,” Hariri said in a televised statement from Beirut.
