Mercer vs Wofford Broadcast
Date: Saturday, February 20
Game Time: 1:00 ET
Venue: Gibbs Stadium, Spartanburg, SC
The Mercer Bears know they are going to have to play a really good game to have success in this game, but don’t let that scare you, this is a team that played three games this fall and that could help them. Mercer didn’t win any of the three games, but that should give them some good experience heading into this game. In the last game against Abilene Christian the defense only gave up 20 points, but the offense only could manage 17 points and that led to the loss. Mercer was led at quarterback by Harrison Frost who finished the game throwing for 126 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. In this game, the defense will need to be strong again, but the offense is also going to need to find a way to get rolling early or this could be a long game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Wofford Terriers who have big expectations surrounding them, and they have to feel good about their chances to find success in this game. Wofford is built around both of their lines, and they want to keep the ball on the ground first and foremost. When these two teams faced off two years ago, Wofford rushed for almost 400 years and six touchdowns. The passing game will need to be good too, but it’s going to start with controlling the pace of the game with the rushing game. On defense it’s going to be about the front four getting pressure, and making the passing game uncomfortable for Mercer.
