- .Connor Wickham is set to join Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on loan.
- .The British have had a hard time at Crystal Palace with long chutes.
- .Cenk Tosun’s arrival means Wickham’s game time will be severely limited.
Crystal Palace Striker Connor Wickham will be given the opportunity to revive his injury-hit career at the State on Wednesday following the arrival of the Cenk Tosun at Selhurst Park.
Wickham, 26, was hailed as the golden boy of English football when he broke through as a teenager at Ipswich Town but an 8 million move to Sunderland in 2011 failed to work out for him.
The Englishman’s time at the Palace was also badly affected by a serious traumatic injury that left him out for 18 months.
Bristol City and Nottingham Forest were also interested in taking the center-forward on loan but Wickham, a former England under-21s international, is understood to be heading to Hillsborough where he spent time on loan from Sunderland earlier in his career.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson is happy to give the deal a green light with Jordan Ayew, Tosun and Christian Benteke as alternative strike options.
Wickham was on the bench for Saturday’s lunchtime game against Arsenal.
